1964 1/2 (1965) Ford Mustang Coupe
The car was purchased new in July 1964 at White Ford in Chiefland, Florida. It’s the first Mustang that dealership ever sold. It was ordered with Rally wheels, Wimbledon White Paint with ‘Blue Crinkle’ vinyl interior & Air Conditioning.
The lady that originally purchased the car passed it on to her Nephew as a graduation gift when he graduated from medical school in 1973.
In 1987 the Doctor had the car repainted & interior replaced with original Ford interior package, also had the Ford dealership install a New ‘Crate’ 289HO engine… It was then presented to his daughter as a graduation gift when she left for college. She had owned the car & kept it garaged at her Father’s home until 2016, only driving it on special occasions.
Very nice collector Mustang that was in the same family from 1964 until 2016!! Well maintained and driven very little since 1987. It has 78280 original miles. (Subject to change since driven occasionally).
Approximately 4000 miles on the 289 engine.
The ‘data plate’ indicates a ‘build date’ of June 22, 1964. It was also an original V8 260 CI engine. Now has a 289 with a 4 barrel carburetor, C-4 Automatic transmission with a 3:00 standard Diff rear end.
The AC was probably a ‘dealer install’ at the time of purchase in 1964, but may have come from the factory already installed. The AC has not been retrofitted for current Freon but does include all the parts to make the change over. The original AM Radio is also included; an Am/Fm Cassette stereo was installed in the 80s.
Includes the original owner’s manual.
It is in sound mechanical shape and drives great. The carburetor is jetted for sea level & may require re-jetting for upper elevation driving.
It’s a 55 year old car that shows well, drives well and has all that ‘Old Car’ character from the 60’s…
